About Joe
Joseph Giannino brings to his clients three decades of service at all levels of local and state government. Before founding Government Relations Group and Shawmut Strategies, Joe spent years in a private lobbying practice. He represents a variety of clients ranging from labor and education to animal protection and economic development. Joe’s victories on behalf of his clients are noteworthy and include the recent effort to make permanent the Massachusetts
Film and Television Production Tax Credit. Whether it be legislative or regulatory, fiscal or local, Joe’s ability to nimbly navigate all levels of government is unrivaled.
Before entering the private sector, Joe Giannino spent many years working in government. His background includes serving former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney as Legislative Director, overseeing the areas of education, economic development, consumer affairs, banks and banking, government regulations, labor and workforce development. In his role as Legislative Director, Joe managed 23 state agencies, serving as a liaison between the Executive and Legislative branches of government.
In addition to his work in state government, Joe was elected to two terms as a Revere, Massachusetts City Councilor-At-Large. Before being elected to the Council, he served as an elected member of Revere’s School Committee for 6 consecutive years. He also is a licensed School Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and School Business Administrator in Massachusetts.
Joe is a graduate of Suffolk University and is a member of the Boch Center Board of Overseers. He lives in Boxford, MA with his wife Deb, two chocolate labs and a French Bulldog named Lucy.
